College Acceptance Update!

Destination: College senior student athletes are evaluating their college acceptances and financial aid packages to determine which school is right for them. This week, we’d like to share a few heart-warming success stories from the seniors and their volunteer mentors.

Ellie received 24 College Acceptances!

Your read that right…Ellie has received a staggering 24 college acceptances! Ellie is a Denzel Washington School of the Arts student, a diligent Destination: College participant, Captain of the Mount Vernon High School Girls Swim team as well as Varsity Baseball Team Manager…and that is just the tip of the iceberg of Ellie’s extracurricular activities! We are so proud of you Ellie, and we’re excited to see where your journey takes you!

Kimora and Volunteer Ms. Lissa

Senior Kimora and volunteer Ms. Lissa are happy to celebrate Kimora’s many college acceptances. All of their hard work is paying off. Next steps…talking and deciding what will be the best option for Kimora. Good luck Kimora!

Tianna and Mentor Ms. Tracy

Tianna has received multiple acceptances from great colleges and now it’s time to discuss the details of each offer and decide on the perfect match. Decisions, decisions! With Ms. Tracy’s expert guidance we are sure Tianna will make the right choice for her college adventure. Good luck Tianna, and thank you Ms. Tracy for your dedication and great work!

Kamora, H.E.R Honoree

Kamora is a senior at Mount Vernon High School and an active member of Destination: College. Kamora was recently honored for her academics, leadership and community service at the H.E.R. (Helping Everyone Rise) event hosted by the City of Mount Vernon Youth Bureau Safe Place for Girls celebrating Women’s History Month. We are very proud of you, Kamora! Congratulations!

Kamora and Mentor Mr. Bob

Kamora and has worked with her mentor Mr. Bob throughout the college application process. They are now finished with the review process of Kamora’s college offers and it looks like Stony Brook University is a match! Kamora is an honor roll student, manager of the Mount Vernon Girls Varsity Basketball team, a volunteer for Ready4Life and Student Advocate for the City of Mount Vernon. Congratulations to this successful mentor/mentee partnership and thank you, Mr. Bob for your great work.

We could not do what we do at Destination: College without our volunteers. Their dedication to our students goes above and beyond. We are grateful for their boundless energy and enthusiasm – their tireless support of our students and always going the extra mile with our students. Thank you!

Best Night of the Year 2025 Update

If you haven’t already, please save the date for our biggest fund raising event of the year! We will be celebrating the Best Night of the Year on June 11th, from 6pm – 8pm, at Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville. Our very special guest will be NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who will be interviewed by our 2025 Cooney Scholars. Undoubtedly a “not-to-be-missed” exclusive!

Best Night of the Year is truly a special night for everyone involved with Destination: College and we are excited to welcome you all. Invitations will be sent very soon. Space is limited so please RSVP at your earliest convenience to avoid disappointment. Instructions for easy online registration will be enclosed with your invitation.
