Getting Ready for College!

Our 2025 graduates, now rising freshmen, are eagerly preparing to begin new adventures at their new colleges in the coming weeks. Each summer we attend a wonderful event to shop for free dorm supplies hosted by Grad Bag.

Grad Bag is a non-profit founded in 2012. They have provided dorm room essentials for more than 5,500 students and diverted nearly 170 tons of materials from the waste stream. Grad Bag visits college campuses to collect up donations of dorm supplies which are then distributed to students up and down the East Coast.

IT’s a great day for DC student athletes to shop among the stacks of comforters, pillows, sheets, shower caddies, mirrors, lamps and much more. We bring our student athletes by bus our volunteers meet us at the event to help transport all of the dorm merchandise back to Mount Vernon. There’s way too much stuff to fit on the bus!

Everyone is included. Students unable to to attend are invited to have family of a friend shop in their stead.
