Getting Ready for College!

Our 2025 graduates, now rising freshmen, are eagerly preparing to begin new adventures at their new colleges in the coming weeks. Each year as part of the process we arrange a visit to a wonderful event at Westchester Community College hosted by Grad Bag.

Grad Bag is a non-profit founded in 2012 and they have provided dorm room essentials for more than 5,500 students and diverted nearly 170 tons of materials from the waste stream. Grad Bag visit college campuses to collect up donations of dorm supplies which are then distributed to students up and down the East Coast.

IT’s a great day for DC student athletes! We take a bus to the site and meet our volunteers who assist in choosing from a hug selection of supplies for their dorm rooms. Our Volunteers then bring everything that the students have selected back home…there’s way too much stuff to fit on the bus!

Everyone is included and for students participating in HEOP or unable to the Grad Bag event, we invite their family to come and shop for them.
